My story begins in Ensley, Alabama just a few blocks from the busy steel mill where my dad worked in the mid 1950's. My family on the surface appeared to be the normal all American happy family, but behind the scenes it was anything but normal or happy. In my testimony I tell of the deep hurt and pain of my childhood, but more importantly I tell of the great love and grace of Jesus Christ who heals and forgives when people place their faith and trust in Him.
I also relate to people at times the personal struggles I've had with alcohol and drugs and with pride and misplaced priorities, but I never leave people without hope. Though I am ashamed of my past and even embarrassed at times to tell it; there's nothing I love more than to tell how it ends and how my Heavenly Father never gave up on me. In spite of all my rebellion and hardness of heart, my Heavenly Father never let me go.
It happened on a cold January night on my way to work! I don't remember if I was listening to a sermon on the radio or just praying but it was as if the glory of the Lord came down into the cab of that old Chevy blazer and my heart was truly broken for my sin and for the way I had lived and wasted my life. I pulled over to the side of that old country road and all alone I just bowed my head on the steering wheel and prayed a simple prayer toward heaven and gave my heart to Jesus! I asked Him to forgive me of my sins and I promised to follow Him for the rest of my life wherever he might lead me. And my life has never been the same since!
