Grady Covin Ministries

Preaching Jesus

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit our website. Please know this ministry would not exist apart from Jesus Christ. All that I am and anything I could possibly accomplish is because of Him. My salvation, my calling and gift to preach the Gospel and my burden for lost souls are all credited to God's amazing grace. And so the purpose of this website is not to in anyway promote me. It is to promote Jesus Christ through me, for I know I am nothing without Him. I am merely a vessel for God to overflow with His Holy Spirit into the hearts of others. And so please use this website to learn about my gift as an evangelist, but more importantly, please use it to hear from the Holy Spirit as to what He would have you do with regard to the office of the evangelist. If you do feel led to use me in your church or at your next event, please know I will be truly honored and grateful and I will be very respectful of you and your congregation.

My purpose is very simple. It is to preach the Gospel and to tell people how Jesus can give them a brand new life. I believe as the Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1:16 that the Gospel has the power to save souls and not just because he was inspired to pen those words, though that is enough for me, but also because I know what effect the Gospel had on my life. I know the transforming power of the Gospel first hand and because of that I am very passionate about telling others what it can do in their life if they will only open up their heart and receive it.

My story begins in Ensley, Alabama just a few blocks from the busy steel mill where my dad worked in the mid 1950's. My family on the surface appeared to be the normal all American happy family, but behind the scenes it was anything but normal or happy. In my testimony I tell of the deep hurt and pain of my childhood, but more importantly I tell of the great love and grace of Jesus Christ who heals and forgives when people place their faith and trust in Him.

I also relate to people at times the personal struggles I've had with alcohol and drugs and with pride and misplaced priorities, but I never leave people without hope. Though I am ashamed of my past and even embarrassed at times to tell it; there's nothing I love more than to tell how it ends and how my Heavenly Father never gave up on me. In spite of all my rebellion and hardness of heart, my Heavenly Father never let me go.

It happened on a cold January night on my way to work! I don't remember if I was listening to a sermon on the radio or just praying but it was as if the glory of the Lord came down into the cab of that old Chevy blazer and my heart was truly broken for my sin and for the way I had lived and wasted my life. I pulled over to the side of that old country road and all alone I just bowed my head on the steering wheel and prayed a simple prayer toward heaven and gave my heart to Jesus! I asked Him to forgive me of my sins and I promised to follow Him for the rest of my life wherever he might lead me. And my life has never been the same since!

Well, that was January 2004 and from that day until now things have definitely not been the same, not in my life, nor in the Covin family. A short time later I was called to preach. I left my job in the coal industry, we sold everything we owned moved to a strange community and planted a church in the band room of the Middle School in Chelsea, Alabama with a handful of lost people. That was over ten years ago and many saved souls ago and what an awesome journey it has been! There are many stories of God's amazing love in the Bible and I love to tell them all, but none do I love to tell anymore than the one He has given to me. And according to God's Word none are more powerful than our own. Revelation 12:11 says, And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony. There is power in the blood of Jesus and there is power in our testimony and there is, of course, power in the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

2 Timothy 2:15, Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. I promise to seek God in what He would have me to preach as any pastor would before he enters his own pulpit. I promise to diligently study and to prepare spiritually by praying and fasting as the Holy Spirit directs. I will always be respectful and considerate of your pulpit and you the pastor and show that same respect and consideration to every member of your congregation. I will never ask for or suggest that I be given an offering, much less paid a certain amount for my services. God knows exactly what you and I both need and I trust Him to tell me what you need and I trust Him to tell you what I need. And then lastly, I will always receive invitations on a first come, first serve basis, no matter the size or the location of your congregation.

Statement of Faith (pdf)

Father, I am Thy servant to do Thy will, and that will is sweeter to me than position or riches or fame and I choose it above all things on earth or in heaven. Though I am chosen of Thee and honored by a high and holy calling, let me never forget that I am but a man of dust and ashes, a man with all the natural faults and passions that plague the race of men. I pray Thee therefore, my Lord and Redeemer, save me from myself and from all the injuries I may do myself while trying to be a blessing to others. Fill me with Thy power by the Holy Spirit, and I will go in Thy strength and tell of Thy righteousness, even Thine only. I will spread abroad the message of redeeming love while my normal powers endure. Amen (A.W. Tozer)

You too can experience real peace in your life. Will you take just a few minutes and find out how?
